Junior and age-group tournaments around Kuala Lumpur 4

Children’s chess around Kuala Lumpur is played in age groups, and often in a school hall. SJK(C) Kuen Cheng 1 on Jalan Belfield holds a primary-school championship with under-10 and under-12 categories, eight rounds in a single Saturday, and Chong Hwa Independent High School runs a rapid open for players under 18 in its Kong Chen Hall. In Selayang the Putra Putri Muda Catur series moves between Selayang Mall and the Masjid Selayang Baru, and Midpoint Shopping Complex in Pandan Indah has held a tournament of its own in both 2025 and 2026.

Many of the mall tours on the tournament page also add under-12 or under-15 sections to an open day; those cards stay with the other tournaments. Registration closes before the day and goes through the organiser named on each card.
