More about this list

Chess teaching in the Klang Valley is led by academies, and most of them also run tournaments, which is how they appear in public records. KL Chess Academy in Desa Sri Hartamas teaches groups at its centre, gives private lessons and works with partner schools; DK Chess Academy in Setiawangsa holds sparring events for its students; Mega Chess Academy holds assessment events in malls such as MidPoint and The Mines; Bingo Chess Academy runs an invitation series at SJK(C) Kepong 2; Checkmate Chess Academy & Club trains players in Bandar Bukit Puchong; Chess Master Journey in Klang has run closed tournaments with Tamil schools.

Several academies are known only from an undated directory listing or from a site with no recent date: Brainbox and Marcus in Subang Jaya, Aethreal in Mont Kiara, Polgar Chess Asia in Desa Sri Hartamas, and centres of Minda Sateria, MSS and Dr Ravin in Shah Alam, Bangi and Klang. Their cards mark them as unconfirmed, so contact them before going. Hardly any page gives a fee or the language of teaching.
